Listen Up Leaders: Why Questions Are More Powerful Than Answers
This episode of the podcast Doing Business with a Servant's Heart discusses emotional intelligence and identity with guest Brooke Evans, who runs Powerhouse Leaders HQ with her business partner Cassie.
The episode starts with a conversation about emotional intelligence and how it is the most underrated skill for CEOs. Emotional intelligence is the awareness of one's emotions and those of others and the ability to use this awareness to manage one's behavior and relationships. CEOs, in particular, need to be emotionally intelligent because they are stewards of many people.
Brooke then talks about how CEOs should claim their identity. This means understanding who they are and what they want to be known for. She gives an example of a client who had grown a company from zero to $15 million but didn’t see herself as a CEO. Because of this, she wasn't acting in a way that would help her company continue to grow.
Once CEOs understand their identity, they can start building a business around it. Brooke talks about a client who went from being a CEO to a creator because that was a better fit for her identity.
